Just got this today for a grill I was sick of buying replacement grates for, the size almost fit perfect. I washed it first then heated it in steps… 1/4-1/2-3/4 then full I then added avocado oil (can use anything with high smoke point) let it sit on it then moved around for a while with a spatula. Once I felt content I took a dry wash cloth and kind of “polished” the griddle while soaking up the oil. I’ve seasoned cast iron but never steel so this was just a learning experience that seemed to work well. I had no warping and yes it’s gonna stain it’s just the nature of the beast. Time will tell but I feel as though I’m going to be just as happy down the road as I am now with the purchase. The griddle felt to me like it was built well enough and does come with handles but mine is going to be staying where it’s at so I didn’t attach them. The biggest con that I see is that the grease tray is not removable. I was thinking about drilling holes in it and allowing it to drip in the pan for the grill, but decided I’m going to leave it as is because I have a spatula that fits perfectly in the tray and will just remove after it solidifies. UPDATE: I’ve used this a bunch of times since buying it and it’s still great with no warping, house still doesn’t stink like bacon, and only thing I’ve had stick was fried rice but to be fair we think my wife cooked the rice wrong.
